The United States Senate Youth Program, established in 1962 by U.S. Senate Resolution, is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service. Two high school juniors or seniors from South Dakota spend a week in Washington each spring experiencing their federal government in action. Student delegates will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members and officials from the Departments of State and Defense, as well as participate in a meeting with a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Two South Dakota students are selected to attend each year by the South Dakota Department of Education. For more information on the application, please visit their website.
