Rounds Introduces Resolution Honoring Inauguration Personnel
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today introduced a resolution to honor the personnel who worked to support the ceremonies and events for the 60th Presidential Inauguration that took place on January 20, 2025.
The resolution recognizes the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), the Architect of the Capitol, the Sergeant at Arms, the Secretary of the Senate, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel and volunteers for their support in making President Donald J. Trump’s Inauguration a success. The resolution also notes that the Inauguration took place under unique and challenging circumstances, requiring the relocation of certain events indoors due to unseasonably cold weather and the subsequent ability of all those involved to adapt to those challenges with dedication and professionalism.
“January 20 was a great day for America that would not have been possible without the support of Senator Fischer and Senator Klobuchar’s leadership of the JCCIC, the Sergeant at Arms, the Secretary of the Senate, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel and volunteers,” said Rounds. “Even as the cold weather forced events inside, these individuals worked tirelessly to overcome logistical and operational challenges to allow us all to celebrate this momentous occasion in a safe and secure environment. We are grateful for them all and recognize their historic achievement.”
“President Trump’s inauguration would not have happened without the tireless efforts of law enforcement, volunteers, and personnel across the Capitol complex,” said Thune. “While there is no way to name all of the folks involved in pulling it off, I especially want to thank the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies led by Senators Fischer and Klobuchar. Their extensive planning and coordination – and their ability to adapt when the entire ceremony had to be moved indoors with just days’ notice – helped ensure the inauguration was a huge success.”
This resolution is cosponsored by Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), as well as Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.), Jim Justice (R-W.Va.), Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Andy Kim (D-N.J.), Angus King (I-Maine), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Ben-Ray Luján (D-N.M.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Gary Peters (D-Mich.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.).
