Rounds Congratulates Craig Price, Secretary of South Dakota Department of Public Safety, for Being Selected to Serve on President Trump’s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today congratulates Secretary of South Dakota Department of Public Safety Craig Price, who has been selected to serve as a commissioner on the President’s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice.

 

“I congratulate Craig for being selected to join the President’s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice,” said Rounds. “I’ve had the privilege of working with Craig throughout his career in law enforcement. He will be a great addition to the Commission as it seeks ways to prevent and reduce crime, assist victims and increase respect for the law. Our law enforcement officers work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. I thank President Trump for creating the commission and look forward to reviewing their report.”

 

After graduating from South Dakota State University in 1996, Price joined the South Dakota Highway Patrol as a state trooper. He went on to work in the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, where he held the positions of Special Agent, Supervisory Special Agent and Assistant Director. In 2011, he was named Superintendent of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a post he held until he was appointed to serve as Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety in 2018 by Governor Kristi Noem.

 

The Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice is designed to conduct a system-wide, comprehensive review of the criminal justice system, develop a strategic plan to include recommendations for moving forward and provide guidance to federal, state, local and tribal governments.?The Commission will study issues that are critical to making sure our communities are safe, and that those who enforce and administer the law are properly supported.
