Pierre Student Receives Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment to U.S. Military Academy at West Point
Isaac Buchholtz was nominated to the Military Academy by Sen. Rounds
WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today announced that T.F. Riggs High School student Isaac Buchholtz has received a fully qualified offer of appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Isaac is the son of Brian and Kristal Buchholtz of Pierre, SD.
“Congratulations to Isaac on his offer of appointment to West Point,” said Rounds. “Our nation’s service academies are among the most elite educational institutions in the world, and receiving an offer of appointment to attend one of them is a high honor. Between taking AP classes, working construction, playing four sports and volunteering as a math and science tutor, Isaac has worked hard to prepare for the next four years at the U.S. Military Academy. We thank him for his desire to serve our country.”
“I am honored to be able to represent both my country and family with this opportunity,” said Buchholtz. “Becoming a cadet has been one of my top goals for years. I am so grateful to be nominated by Senator Rounds and I very much look forward to the challenge ahead of me.”
Each year, Sen. Rounds is able to nominate a select group of eligible students from South Dakota to attend our nation’s four service academies: The U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy.
