Historic photo: Rounds, Thune and Noem in D.C.

WASHINGTON - Yesterday we saw a picture of the last all-GOP delegation from South Dakota, which dates to 1962.

Today we get a picture of the current delegation, compliments again of Sen. John Thune's office. We noted yesterday that the delegations differ in that the 1962 group was larger by one, and that there were no women.

Here's another difference: Age.

In 1962:

Sen. Karl Mundt was 62.

Sen. Joseph Bottum was 59 when he was appointed to the Senate.

Rep. E.Y. Berry would have been 59 or 60, depending on when the photo was taken.

Rep. Ben Reifel would have been about 55 or 56, again, depending on when the photo was taken.

The current delegation:

Sen. Mike Rounds turned 60 in October.

Sen. John Thune turned 54 today.

Rep. Kristi Noem turned 43 in November.
