Adequate, safe and affordable housing is a basic, essential need for all South Dakotans. As a member of the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs committee, I am focused on improving our federal programs and streamlining regulations to make sure all South Dakotans have housing opportunities.
Stable housing is a critical factor in determining a child’s ability to succeed in school. It’s also critical for adults looking for employment. Studies show that the stress of unstable housing can have a negative impact on both our mental and physical health.
My commitment is to continue to address obstacles that exist for homeowners, renters or those who are at risk of becoming homeless, until all South Dakotans have safe and stable housing.
